His journey into ophthalmology was hands-on from the start. Before beginning his formal training, he worked directly in the operating room as a surgical technician, reinforcing his belief that small, precise interventions in eye care can have profound, lasting impacts.
Dr. Cardinale served eight years in active-duty military service, deploying to Iraq as the sole ophthalmology consultant for Operation Inherent Resolve from 2023 to 2024. He also served as Assistant Program Director at Madigan Army Medical Center, where he trained future ophthalmologists and helped refine surgical techniques in a dynamic clinical setting.
His commitment to vision care extends globally, having participated in multiple surgical missions around the world to restore sight. Through these initiatives, he has provided vision-saving care to underserved communities, combining his expertise with a passion for expanding access to ophthalmic surgery on a global scale.
Originally from New York, Dr. Cardinale made the Pacific Northwest his home through military service. When he’s not in the clinic, he enjoys exploring the great PNW and photography, capturing the same depth and detail that make vision so vital.
